The
Association for the History of Glass Limited (AHG) is an Educational
Charity and Company Limited by Guarantee. Its objectives
are to advance public knowledge and interest in the historical,
archaeological, aesthetic and technological study of glass for all
periods of history and in all parts of the world, together with the
problems of conservation and preservation of glass. It publishes
a Newsletter twice a year and runs Study Days and Conferences. Origins of the AHG
The AHG was originally set up to run the 8th Congress of
l'Association Internationale pour l'Histoire du Verre (AIHV), which was
held in London in 1979. It continues to act as the British
National Committee of the AIHV, and in that capacity it hosted the 16th
International Congress (known as "AIHV2003") which was held in London
during September 2003. Management of the AHG
The AHG is run by a Board of Directors consisting at present of three
officers (President, Hon Secretary and Hon Treasurer) and 16 other
members. The Directors are elected by the Members of the
